I’m very excited to be writing this book and to be working with the wonderful folks at Rosenfeld to make it happen!
Designing Interface Animations is a crash course in interface animation and motion design theory for web designers, UX designers, and front-end developers. It will provide solid thinking and resources for creating animations that have both purpose and style in your own work.
We’re starting a new era for web animation. The “skip intro” stigma of the past is being replaced with useable, purposeful motion made with web standards. It’s a great time to be exploring web animaiton.
I’ve been teaching workshops and giving conference talks on interface animation for the web for the last couple of years. I’m thrilled to be putting all of the knowledge I’ve gained through my experience, and more, into book form.

Super excited about this! I’m working on app animation and transitions at the moment. Would love to learn loads more.

Looking forward to it. Will this be focusing on CSS animations or should we expect a focus on specific prototyping tools? Thanks in advance and for writing this book!
Val Head
Hi Svetlin!
The book will focus on interface animation for the web and cover what we can do with any of our web animation options. So, the advice and design considerations in the book will apply whether your using CSS, JS, SVG or anything else.
For prototyping tools, I’m covering them with a focus on which tools are most effective at different points along the course of your design process. I’ll share which ones I’ve found most useful, but the best prototyping tool for you is always the one that fits best with your existing design process.

Hi Will, sorry for the delayed response. Looking like mid-2016 publication.

Is there going to be a way to pre-order? And will you have an e-book or PDF version available?
Thanks!
Val Head
Hi Kaleb! Yes, there will be ebook versions available as well. And I believe it will be available for pre-order before the official release as well. We’ll keep you posted!
Laura
